At Moordown St John’s, we are incredibly proud of our very own school swimming pool and the opportunities it gives children to develop confidence, learn essential life skills and discover a lifelong love of swimming.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and suitably qualified Level 2 Swimming Instructor to join our welcoming school community.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves teaching swimming and wants the stability and benefits of permanent employment, term-time only working and retaining their mornings and weekends.
What makes this opportunity special?
- A dedicated school swimming pool – teach in our own 15.5-metre pool, in a familiar and supportive environment.
- A rewarding role – help children overcome fears, develop confidence and celebrate the excitement of learning to swim.
- Family-friendly working hours – three or four afternoons and early evenings each week, during term time.
- A friendly, supportive team – become a valued member of a school community where children and staff are encouraged to be their Blossoming BEST.
- The security of permanent employment – with access to a valuable range of employee benefits.
The benefits of joining us
As a permanent member of our school team, you can enjoy:
- A valuable pension through the Local Government Pension Scheme, subject to eligibility.
- Paid annual leave, incorporated into your term-time salary arrangements.
- Occupational sick pay, subject to the school's employment terms and length of service.
- A regular, predictable salary, rather than relying entirely on individual lesson bookings.
- Potential annual pay awards and incremental progression, in accordance with the school's pay arrangements.
- School-supported training and professional development, as appropriate to the role.
Who are we looking for?
We would love to hear from someone who:
- Holds a recognised Level 2 swimming teaching qualification.
- Is enthusiastic, encouraging and able to make lessons enjoyable.
- Can adapt teaching to suit different ages, abilities and levels of confidence.
- Is passionate about helping children learn to swim safely and successfully.
- Enjoys working as part of a friendly and supportive team.
Already working as a self-employed swimming instructor?
We would still love to hear from you! Although we are particularly keen to offer the security and benefits of a permanent contract, we are also happy to consider suitable self-employed instructors and discuss alternative arrangements.
We warmly encourage interested candidates to arrange an informal conversation or visit to see our pool and meet the team.
