About the role

Burton Bradstock Primary School is seeking to recruit a Childcare Assistant (Extended Day) 4 hours per week.

Role Details:

● Contract: Permanent

● Salary: Grade 3 (SCP 3–4), Actual Annual Salary £2,321–£2,357 

● Working Hours: Term time only, Tuesday & Thursday, 3:20 pm – 5:20 pm (may be subject to change according to business need) 38 working weeks per year.

Main Purpose & Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high quality care for children

● Take the register of children attending after school club

● Administer First Aid as appropriate

● Promote and reinforce children’s self-esteem

● Assist in promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children in accordance with the Trust’s safeguarding and child protection policy

  • Assist in organising resources for each session

● Assist in ensuring the club is a safe environment for children; that equipment is safe and health and hygiene requirements are met

● If food or snacks are being served as part of the club, to assist in:

● Providing children with a balanced diet; planning menus and timely placing of food orders

● Ensuring that health and hygiene requirements are met, including carry out washing-up, cleaning of catering equipment and kitchen area

● Assist in carrying out day to day administration, record keeping and communication

● Attend staff meetings and training opportunities where appropriate

● Assist in ensuring all legal and statutory requirements are implemented; assist in providing reports as required

Keeping Children Safe in Education

The school will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
