Dorset Council are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our established and experienced Transport Data & Studies Team, supporting the implementation of Dorset’s planning policy and transport infrastructure.
The successful applicant will assist in the creation and use of computer transport models and specific aspects of transportation related assessments and studies. This work involves analysis of data using spreadsheets, GIS and reporting outcomes.
You will be part of a small friendly team of experienced transport modellers supporting and informing Dorset Council’s Planning and Highway teams.

About you:
You should hold an Undergraduate Degree in a relevant discipline such as Civil Engineering, Mathematics, Geography or Economics. The role requires well-developed IT, numerical and literacy skills, and excellent report writing skills.
You should also have abilities to communicate effectively with different audiences, liaise with other internal directorates and external partners to deliver joint work, work under pressure, and deliver to deadlines on high profile projects.
Experience with transport data or studies is desirable but not essential. Knowledge of software packages such as SATURN, PARAMICS, CUBE VOYAGER, TUBA, EXCEL and QGIS/MAPINFO is desirable.
