An exciting opportunity has arisen within the People- Adults, Learning and Development Team for an Adviser post on a fixed term contract. Applications for a secondment would be welcomed.
The team support the learning and development needs of Dorset Council's People- Adults directorate through a range of learning and development activities. These include designing and delivering learning events, managing further education opportunities, commissioning external training and qualifications, and providing information, advice, and guidance on continuing professional development. The team work collaboratively with colleagues in other parts of the council and with partner agencies and some of our courses are available to colleagues outside of the council.
The team aims to facilitate learning that fosters good practice and makes a difference to Dorset residents. The Adults Learning & Organisational Development Team provides skills, knowledge and training relating to Adults services, which supports and inspires a competent and confident workforce that promotes the safety, wellbeing, and good quality of life for the people of Dorset.
What you will be doing
As a Learning and Organisational Development Adviser, you will work with stakeholders to identify the learning and development needs required to deliver high quality services, and to develop creative solutions to meet those requirements.
As a team we have a blended approach to learning so offer virtual classroom sessions, face-to-face sessions, webinars, live events, e-learning, and access to best practice guidance through internal experts and partner organisations.
Your work will include:
- identifying learning needs
- providing information, advice, and guidance to meet individual and service outcomes
- commissioning training
- quality assurance
- evaluation
- sharing best practice and working to ensure that learning is embedded into the organisation
- supporting continuing professional development
- leading, managing, and running learning and development sessions
- supporting our virtual offer
You will work as part of a team but will have agreed areas of responsibility for aspects of the programme and will need to work pro-actively to ensure effective and timely delivery.
About you
You will have a passion for supporting others in developing their confidence, skills, knowledge and careers.
You will have a good understanding of the function of Adult Social Care Services, as well as an understanding of current national policy and legislation relating to adult social care.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills to be able to build and maintain relationships to enable partnership working to develop and deliver Learning and Development opportunities to our internal and external customers.
