About the role

About your role:

Are you ready to inspire the next generation of land-based engineers?

Join our dynamic Agriculture Department as a Lecturer in Land-based Engineering, home to a thriving 280-hectare mixed commercial farm (dairy and sheep), where learning is hands-on, and the connection between theory and practice is at the heart of everything we do. With access to a wide range of machinery and diverse landscapes—from arable fields to parkland—our learners benefit from real-world experience that prepares them for the future of farming and engineering.

As our student numbers grow and our curriculum evolves, we’re looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Land-based Engineering specialist to deliver high-quality, engaging lessons and practical sessions across a range of levels.

We are committed to investing in you:

We know that specialists in this field don't come along every day, so we want to invest in those that do. That's why this role comes with a £7,000 Market Forces Supplement, fully funded teacher training, and exceptional support to help you transition into (or develop within) teaching. Whether you're already in education or coming straight from industry, we’ll invest in you.

We’re also open to full-time or part‑time arrangements, and can discuss relocation support and on‑site accommodation to help you make the move.

What you’ll be doing:

• Teaching land-based engineering and machinery-related units with a strong practical focus

• Collaborating with our Farm Manager to integrate real-time farming operations into your teaching

• Inspiring learners through hands-on experiences and industry-relevant content

• Supporting students’ development with a flexible, positive, and motivating approach

What we’re looking for:

• Significant vocational experience in land-based engineering or agricultural machinery

• Excellent communication, organisational, and administrative skills

• A passion for teaching and developing young people

• A relevant degree or equivalent qualification (desirable)

• Teaching qualifications (desirable—but we’ll support you to gain them!)

Contractual Details:

Hours: Ideally, we are looking for a full-time candidate to work 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday, but we will consider a job share for part-time candidates.

Salary:  £38,363 to £43,352 per annum (pro-rata for part-time hours) depending on qualifications and experience which includes £7,000 per year Market Forces Supplement (pro-rata for part-time)

If you share our values and have the ambition to join us on our journey to continued success, we would love to hear from you.
