About the role

We are delighted to be recruiting for an enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join our fantastic team at Poole High School. We are looking for a motivated and inspirational colleague with a passion for transforming the life chances of young people. You will be teaching all subjects across the curriculum including PE lessons. A keen interest in sport and/or coaching experience would be an advantage but not essential. Previous post holders have used this as a springboard to a teacher training course. 

We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to: 

  • Supervise classes for absent teachers as required
  • Assisting students with the work set by the teacher or head of department 
  • Provide feedback to the teacher of the behaviour and progress of classes and individuals
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies. 
Start date:  ASAP (subject to pre-start checks)
 Contract term:  Permanent
 Working hours:  35 hours per week – Monday – Friday 8.15am to 4.15pm, 1-hour unpaid break
 Weeks per year:  School term-times plus Trust Training days only
 Salary range:  Support staff salary points 7-11 £26,403 to £28,142 per annum (FTE) - £20,980 to £22,362 (pro-rata)

The pro rata salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and includes appropriate paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements.

The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted at the start of employment and again if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year.

This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.

Keeping Children Safe in Education

Poole High School will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
