About the role

Due to career progression within Adult Social Care, we are looking for five newly qualified, dynamic, and passionate Level 1 Social Workers.

ASYE Positions Available:

  • Bridport and West Dorset Learning Disability Community Team
  • Peripatetic Team – flexibly working across teams
  • East Dorset Locality Team
  • Home First Hospital Discharge Team - Poole and Bournemouth
  • Home First Hospital Discharge Team - West or North Dorset

Interview Details:  Interviews will take place in person during the first week of May at County Hall in Dorchester, Dorset.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in Social Work
  • Registered with Social Work England
  • Ability to fulfil travel requirements with a full valid UK driving licence (International or Provisional licences are not accepted)
  • Use of own appropriate vehicle
  • Right to Work in the UK (Relocation allowances and expenses are not available)
In a recent workshop with our customers, they emphasised that it is important for social workers to see their work as "not just a job"; they want people who genuinely care, understand, and want to help and build positive working relationships.
The qualities they expect from our social workers include being respectful, trustworthy, showing empathy, being good listeners who don't interrupt, spending the time needed, doing as they say they will, thinking outside the box, being adaptable, punctual, having knowledge of what it means to be a carer, being knowledgeable and able to share this knowledge with those they work with, and overall showing kindness.

Role Expectations:

  • Undertake strengths-based assessments, support planning, and reviews

Essential Criteria:

  • Degree in Social Work or equivalent and be newly qualified, or be due to qualify in 2025

  • Undertake the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)
  • Meet the expected standards during the ASYE period
  • The ASYE scheme is required unless you can prove that you meet the standards laid out in the professional capabilities framework
